No, it's a great piece of literature and I highly recommend it as a window into race relations during the 1930's in the Deep South. One thing I very much appreciated about it is how the author kept Scout, her protaganist, in character throughout the book. We always see the events of that summer through Scout's eyes, never the author's or anyone else's.

yes, and it is such a wholesome book which is so hard to find now. it kept me interested the whole time and it is one of the few books I would be willing to re-read.

I have read it several times, with fresh perspective and understanding at different phases of my life. With fresh eyes, you might say. My kids found it tough slogging in the opening chapters (required reading) so I read it to them to get them started. In both cases I ended up reading the entire book to them. And they both aced their tests on it.

I actually loved it so much I enjoyed the book report I had to write about it too!

That's great, I bet you got a good grade! It's lovely to find someone who enjoyed/ appreciated as much as I do! I have to leave but tell me what you like about it, I'll read it later.

I really loved the morals, and that is acknowledged racism for what it was. I think a lot of people today would really benefit from reading more books like that. ❤️
