to late to add chicks to my 3 month old group

I know my wife will kill me but I have been wanting to get 3 to 6 little chicks. How would one add more to a group that has been together for almost 12 weeks without the older one hurting my new group? Will I have to keep them separated? If so for how long? What is the smallest amount 2/3 chicks to add to a group of 3/12 week old girls?

Is it to late ???

A couple weeks ago I added 6week old chicks to my adult flock, to which I had 3 roosters, 2 broody hens on eggs and 4 grown hens. The way I did it was to put a large dog kennel in the coop and put chicks in it so they would the others. I let them out when everyone was free ranging. In less then 1 week everyone was fine together and they are the friendliest chicks I've had. They found my garden and then found their way back to go to bed. This does not always go this smoothly so you should watch them. Good luck Steve.
