Anytime that I go out to the coop there is always tons of flies and ants. I keep the coop very clean and the only kind of scraps they don't eat right away is watermelon rinds. I know flies are bad for the chickens and not to mention just annoying. I don't want to spray chemicals out there and I was wondering if any one had any suggestions?

Not sure I'd spray citronella inside a coop.

Best bet is don't leave any food scraps in the coop.
Do you have a run too?
Pics would help here.

Oh, and.... Welcome to BYC! @AidKD
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.

It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

It gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Yes, I do have a run. I think not having any scraps in the run would take care of the flies but not the ants. Not sure what to do about those.

Sorry, can't post any pics. It's hot right now. In the upper 90's. The ants are just everywhere and it seems the flies are just after the melon. I was hoping for a DIY spray for it.
