To medicate or not?

I will be getting chicks in May 2008 and wanted to know if people have been successful in raising chickens without the aid of any vaccinations? If so did you use any supplements instead?

I've never had vaccinations for my chickens. It's not a requirement where I live. I just use the medicated chick starter from the feed store.

I have hatchery chicks vaccinated. I never use any type of medicated feed at any time.

Note that if you have them vaccinated do not use medicated feed because it voids the vaccine.

Miss Prissy, that's the advice for the cocci vaccine, right? There is also a vaccine for Marek's Disease, which is a virus and has no treatment for the disease.

We ordered our day-olds from MMH and had them vaccinate the chicks for both Marek's and Cocci.
