So I got a broody that was trying to set but the other hens where laying on and around her. At the moment I only had one spot to move her and that was my brooder cage. I moved her and the milk crate nest gave her my guinea eggs and all was going great.
Then about an hr ago my son comes running and crying that the mean Momma killed one if his chicks :(... It jumped/flew into her nest and she killed it.. The chicks r about 2.5/3 weeks old.
So my thought is to move Momma into a Wire Dog Kennel set up in my chicken house tonight... She is very determined to sit these eggs.. So do I move her or not??

I think I would, if she will take another move. You also might want to watch her for more aggression after her babies are hatched. Sylvia

Is that a sign that she won't be a good Momma?

Oh, no. What I meant is that she might attack other hen's babies if they get too close to her babies. You just can't tell from what I have read. She might take the babies from another hen. I tend to think that if she's broody and sits the whole 21 or more days that she will be a good mother. Sylvia

She is my only broody all my other babies will be bator/bought babies.. If she hatches all 17 guineas and raises them she will be a very busy momma hen :)..
We got her moved :) and she is happy on her nest yeah... Before we got her nest in the crate she wanted back on her original nest.. Lol silly chicken

It's a favorite nest even my guinea has decided to lay in it along with 8 hens
