To much space?

Is this to much space for a mix of 2 week old chicks and a few days old chicks? It's about 6ftx7ft. Brooder plate will go under the wood box

It should be ok, but I'd keep a close eye on the younger ones at first. And I'd put the food/water right next to the box so they don't have to go too far.

Depending on how many you have, they'll quickly outgrow that space unless they have other places to go and things to keep them busy.

If the shavings bales is your barrier, they'll quickly jump/fly over it. They're surprisingly agile, and by about 1 week old most are escaping even 2 foot high barriers. (Based on past birds I've been around)
