A few of you may know about the terrible end my last chicks met. However, as fall approaches, I am more and more intrigued to get another brood. I miss hearing little peeps all the time and miss seeing cute little fuzz balls run around all the time. What are your thoughts? Should I get chicks again?

I'm not sure what happened to your last broody but I say yes go for it! Chicks are so much fun and so cute. I would take advantage of this warm weather while it's here. I think this is the best time of year to have chicks around. It's not cold for them to be outside and it's so much less stress. I've had chicks hatch in winter but I find it harder to deal. I currently have chicks with their mama right now and it's a breeze. I let her out of her bed spot and she takes on the warm nice day with her chicks.

Agreed with above post ,

Analyze what went wrong last time ,make changes to prevent it happening again . Raccoons do come back .

Free range is not the best way to raise chickens , there are many in large , secure pens that get to live out a long and happy life

Good luck and keep us posted

Also with goats and ducks already , do you have time to dedicate to another creature? Doing too much means your spread too thin and aren’t doing anything well ,

Good luck deciding , I would finish up with the meat birds first.

I just looked at your topics, do you mean about the raccoon? I would say go for it, but have you secured your coop so nothing can get in? I'd hate for you to have a repeat :(
Yes! I have a better coop in a different location that I’ve checked countless times to make sure its secure. No repeats on my watch!
