Ya’ll were so helpful with our little ornery chick situation and by the way, she is best buddies with all the ladies now and everything is harmonious!
We’re trying to decide if a rooster is the right choice for us. We are adding new hatches tomorrow to our flock of 8 ladies. I had a scare a couple days ago with a hawk and thankfully they were in their coop, but it got me thinking. Do roosters make that much of a difference and is it worth it? I have heard they can be hard to deal with sometimes and you may have to get rid of a few before you get a nice one?
We have a mix of chickens from mille bantams to Wyandottes and my husband really wants a Brahma roo, but I worry they might hurt the ladies. The lady I get my chicks from has German Birlefelder Roos right now and she said she doesn’t have them often. Any one have experience with these? I’m so torn! Will the larger roosters end up hurting my smaller girls?
we also don’t really want fertilized eggs right now either so that’s something to think about! Help!
