Due to Nugget's passing from Mereks, I will not be taking in the two pullets in the high desert. My plans were to add them to the BLRW flock for eggs and because I just love the breed so much.
As much as I would love to give my BYC friends hatching BLRW eggs, I just can't do it. I'm afraid that Nugget may have died from Lymphoid Leukosis and was misdiagnosed. LL passes thru hatching eggs and I would be devisated if I infested anyone else's flock.
I've thought about this a lot since I got the email from the State on Tuesday. Even though I've only met a handful of you face to face, you are all my friends and I do not wish this stress on anyone else here. I'm going to close my flock and do my very best to keep the Mereks or LL from spreading from my flock to others.
