Cortner1195, do you remember the name of that book?
I believe it was along the lines of "raising chickens for dummies" book. I bought it, read it, then passed it on to my daughter.

k, watched Doomsday Preppers last nighte--they showed the one lady washing her eggs and they didn't even look dirty.---uuughghgh![]()
trusting and leaning yes, but use everything in your power and knowledge that has been given to you to prepare for the uncertainty that lies ahead. The only preperation needed in my opinion is the one here. Proverbs chapter 3 verses 5-6
you got it gurl!!I watch that show too, primarily for survival tips like ideas on food/water storage and defensive tactics, but I think it's funny as hell at times. Some of these people, especially the city folk turned preppers who are so gung-ho and yet don't know what they are doing half the time. It is hilarious to me those who talk about building their bunkers in secret, hauling the dirt out after dark, etc. and then, what do they do? They go on national television to tell everyone about it and even show their tactics and their faces, etc. The best prepper is one who doesn't talk about their plans or setup except with a select network of like-minded individuals who can keep their mouths shut as well. As for storing eggs, I plan to keep mine in a dark, cool, dry place in an unwashed state until we need them, rotating them out every few months as needed. Right now mine go, unwashed, into cartons in my refrigerator due to having no other place to store them.

compel all you want, I don't mind, I'm mellow. however that being said--magnitude---it doesn't have to be something huge. no electricity isn't huge, but definitely could cause a lot of issues and when you think about it, it wouldn't take a lot to knock out the grid. it happened in new York state(and surrounding state areas) about 12 years ago I think, some areas were out for days. we have had storms that have knock power out and it wasn't restored for 5 days. crap happens, ...............so with that being said--it isn't just about "the big one" its all the little ones that cause issues and that we can be prepared for. new York state and the northeast has seen some major devastation over the past few years. we may not be getting the wild fires and earthquakes from the west, but we are getting flooding that sweeps away houses and rivers that run thru the center of your local grocery store. --crap just keeps getting worse.I agree to a certain extent. I just don't believe its uncertain what lies ahead. I believe that any type of doomsday event that happens to the magnitude of having to go into survival mode will be the beginning of what is prophesied in The Lord's return, which means, his followers will be swept up and ascended into Heaven. Everyone else will remain here while the antichrist tries to win them over until the tribulation period is over ( which I don't plan to be here for ). You have to use scriptures to interpret scriptures ( if you are a Christian ) and pray and try your best to obtain enough discernment to put them together and do what The Lord is directing you to do through them. This being said, its just my personal belief that there won't be any events that are of this cataclysmic proportion that won't be the beginning of what is described in the Bible as our time on Earth being over. I'm not talking down to anyone. If you feel led to prepare for something so be it. I just felt compelled to say this.
