To young to breed

I had to start over after a coon attack last winter.. My new flock was hatched christmas, so roughly 14 weeks old.. The 2 roos i kept started crowing last week and the flock leader started mating a hen this morning.... and yes, he knew what he was doing!!! This seems way to young for the hens.....

In this case, assume that the chickens know more about it than you do. The hens will not lay eggs until their bodies are ready for it.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING OREGON BLUE..... i never asked a thing about egg laying!!!!!! i've just never seen roo's or hens start mating so young, and was wondering if this was normal or if, like my experience this was early!!!

Young yes. It may have more to do with dominance than sex.
