I went out back this morning to let toaster out of his dog crate that's inside his pin, there's a big tub in the crate that he stays in, but he wasn't there. I started panicking and ran around past the ditch, and a large pile of feathers greeted me. I looked around and couldn't find anything until I found another trail of feathers that led to a hole in the barbed wire fence... I didn't even realize there was a hole.. But Toaster is gone now... I'm happy I didn't find his body, it gives me SOME hope that he was attacked but maybe got away... Maybe...

Sure doesn't sound like he got away but I'm glad you didn't find his body, goodness I hope you get this pen secure before your goslings go out. Very sorry for your loss. That pred will be back.

Having my mom's friend come out Friday to basically build a new one, he owns chickens. My boyfriend's grandpa owns lots of land and cows and wants my geese, he's trying to buy them from me. I know they would be happy there, especially at the pond, but their safety? There is no electric fencing along the three-board fence... Don't know if that's much better than my pin.

Thanks Ms. L

Mine would have to be close to adult size before I let them go on a pond, snappers. large fish will bite and Mame and kill young gosling/ducklings and can seriously injure adults. Unless this person is willing to make sure no large preds are in the water I wouldn't let them go there. and They have to be locked up in secure housing at night or they won't last long. with Secure fencing where they will be living, I know tall order.
