Earlier today I collected four eggs. Yesterday, I collected four eggs. A few minutes ago, my dad returned to me with a FIFTH egg!! HOW?! Did they really lay an extra egg or am I losing my mind?

Maybe a chicken laid an egg yesterday right after you collected, and you collected that one today. Then she layed again after today's collecting and that's the so-called 'fifth' egg. Chickens don't lay at the same time every day.

I don't know about your set up, but I use shavings in my nest boxes. Sometimes one egg gets buried, then it emerges after the chickens rearrange the nesting material to their liking. Could it be possible that one of the eggs from the previous days was a newly found lost egg?

That is possible, I thought I looked thoroughly around their coop and run, but I probably just missed it lol

All hens have their own schedule for eggs. Some lay every 26 hours, some every 30 hours and some longer than that. Most likely, one on the shorter schedule laid shortly after your last collection, then again before the next collection.
