Today I lost my Rooster

I have a small flock of free rangers. Today I lost my only Rooster. I've had him for 7 years and am heartbroken. Should I buy a full grown Rooster or just wait til chick season?

I'm so sorry for your loss. Personally, I'd buy chicks.
I worry about disease coming into my flock, so I only buy from respected hatcheries or hatch my own.

You might also consider buying an incubator and hatching some of his offsprings.

So sorry for the loss of your rooster.

If you buy a full grown rooster you will have to quarantine him first to make sure he is not a carrier of any diseases.

I'm sorry for your loss. Either way is good however make sure you quarantine new adult birds far from your flock.
If you don't need fertile eggs, you might not need one.

If you can get your hands on an incubator, the ladies' eggs will still be fertile for at least a couple weeks.

I so feel for you. I had a favorite rooster, Bye. Lost him last summer, later replaced him with a young cockerel... which has turned out ok...I am not sure if I am just still missing Bye, but Snowman just does not seem the rooster Bye was, he really doesn't do anything wrong...but.
