today is day 18!!!

aran, Its too bad it turned out that way, but better to have found out than to keep waiting and wondering. I think it might be better to interfere when you feel you should. Trust your gut with the next ones. It should be ok to help with the egg, but not getting it out of the egg. Take a breather and wait til the 23rd

Aran,
I am so glad that you have 2 happy healthy chicks. They have someone to grow up with and you know that you CAN hatch chicks. Now it is just a matter of refining things. I'm sorry things didn't go better. I hope things go better with the remaining eggs!

no worries guys we live and learn...im leaning toward the too high humidity because i used a medical grade thermometer inside the water weasel and it was pretty darn close to 99.5 for the most part. It never went over 101.7 or below 98.5 and they hatched late day 21 early 22.

Ok so i am continuing with the learning process...i have the humidity between 45 and 50% from here on until day 18 when i will let it drift up to about 60-65% and see if the hatch rate is better. I have 10 good eggs left in the bator (4 silkies and 6 buff laced). I have actually kept 2 other BLP eggs in there which im pretty sure have not developed but im not sure nuff to throw em out!

The silkie 4 are due on the 23rd and the BLP on the 26th. I will let you know how we do with lower humidity all other variables as similar as i can keep them to last time.
