today is day 18!!!

2 perfect silkie chicks hatched out in the middle of the night...one white and one black! No sign of pippiing in the other 3 eggs yet...maybe today.

so the third has pipped and unzipped about 1/3 of the shell...looks like another black one from the feathers i can see through the unzipped portion of the shell...he/she has done heaps of work in just a couple of hours but has now stopped and appears to be having a rest...the chicks were kicking the eggs all over the place so they are now chilling out in the brooder and just look fantastic...healthy, vigorous, LOUD little buggars! SOOO CUTE!

thanks so much guys...yep im pretty stoked...im just hoping to get about 6 silkies total and about the same in buff laced polish...lets just see how we go!

3rd chick didnt make it...stopped progress with the hatching at about 1 inch unzipped...i opened the shell to get him/her out but it appears to be dead in the shell
