Toddlers are Quackers

Duckling and I went over the shopping list yesterday. "We need: toilet paper, milk, cheese..."
"Why do we need toilet paper, milk and cheese?"
"Because you like milk and cheese. They make you go to the bathroom, and you need toilet paper to wipe. Do you want to use your hands to wipe yourself?"
"Noooo! <giggle>"
"Do you want to wipe yourself with cheese?"
"Nooo! We need toilet paper!"
So I continued, and she added a few things. Fortunately, we talked about cereal too. You know that the pictures get them in the store.
She was proud to pick out fruit snacks, Ritz sandwich crackers, and finally we got to cereal. I was surprised when she really wanted what we agreed on. We used pictures on the packaging to find the right item flavors. The crackers have; pb, cheddar cheese and cream cheese. Captain Crunch has pb, regular and Crunch Berries. She just lit up choosing the items. Oh! She needed new sheets. No character prints, but I showed her a long isle she could choose from. I wasn't surprised she picked purple. She never left the sheets for more than a moment, and was holding them most of the trip.

I swear I'm in the twilight zone.

Youngest comes down the stairs with one of them glow in the dark pillow pets from a yard sale. It's busted, tail's off and the light doesn't turn on.
"Can we put batteries in it?"

"It's broken."

"But I want to make it work."

"Batteries don't fix broken things"

"But I want to put batteries in! See the zipper? <<Shows me the pocket the batteries go into>>

"Whatever. Put batteries in."

"In what?"



Maybe the heat's just getting to me.
