Toddlers are Quackers

The Good: I finally made the roost for my coop! (Chicks are 3 1/2 weeks now. We've got 3 clear favorites, 70% sure who my rooster is, and 15% nervous my more skittish Brahma is not in fact a pullet.)

The Bad: I stopped getting notifications from this thread. So... pretty good it that's my bad thing.

Pinterest is of very limited usefulness for me. I mostly save recipes, but since they are all things that *look* good, and we are presently working around food allergies (mild, but I'm enjoying not having a headache ALL THE TIME), most things just don't work. I still want to make a rainbow tiered dress/skirt for my daughter, but I was waiting to make many clothes for her until she stopped growing out of things so fast.

I really think a lot of "pinterest fails" are "I thought my whole first batch would look like a more experienced crafter/baker's well-photographed cream of the crop, and they don't!" Is the rainbow skirt going to look as good the picture? Nope, but that's because I'm not a professional photographer.

Duckling just arrived. All our Christmas plans are ruined though. I can change when she opens gifts, but her parents aren’t going to get the card she has been working on all month.

The plan was to have her open her Christmas pajamas Saturday night.
Move the couch far away from the tree (better pictures), and put out the gifts. Sunday morning, she’d wake up to see her stocking under her bedroom tree. I’d watch her on the monitor.
I’d FaceTime the people that got her gifts. I’d also see the one family open their gifts from us.
Sunday afternoon, Duckling would give her parents their card when they came to get her.

The other family hasn’t received my package yet, and it will probably be Saturday before they get it. I don’t know when Duckling will leave Saturday, so the opening of gifts together is out. We’re not sure what we will do.
It can feel like Christmas on the 24th, but the 23rd isn’t doing it for anyone it seems. Even Duckling seems unimpressed.
