I let Duckling pet the dead deer. It was hit last Sunday, but it’s been too cold for it to decompose. I wasn’t going to let her, but she was so eager, and it was her only chance.
:( She wants to know when it’s going to get better, and stand up.
Then she asked what was going to happen. I have explained it every way I can. I even did a comparison to the bananas that are turning brown, an apple going soft and a raisin. Obviously she’s still lost, but I am happy for the opportunity to teach her. I’m not opening the deer to get into anatomy. That is not my specialty.
My late brother-in-law let his children touch smelly roadkill, and take porcupine quills. I figure this was done in his honor. :thumbsup

maybe tell her about how that deer is going to feed other animals, like how we eat other animals
more like the circle of life
i dunno, i cant remember how i explained it

I had a chicken breast marinated in Italian dressing in the fridge. I decided it wasn’t worth telling Duckling she had to eat chicken not in nugget form. So I asked if she wanted a hot dog. While I was cooking, she wanted a stick of cheese. She finished most of it before deciding she didn’t like it anymore. So she got out another.
We sat down to eat, and she suddenly paid attention to my chicken. She grabbed my fork, and proceeded to eat my supper. :lau

After bath time, I said I had to go get my phone. She wanted to get it, so I said it was on the floor by the dresser. When she finally came back out, she said it wasn’t by the dresser. Suddenly, her face scrunched up, and she said, “Oh! It was by the dresser!” I thought it was cool that she put the scene together in her head.

I can relate all too well. For a while there, I was losing weight by being too tired to replace the food the kids stole.
