Toddlers are Quackers

Duckling is with her Nanna until tomorrow.
Handyman (the only one I know of) isn't so handy. Typical male!

It's not the striker plate on the door jamb that needs to be built out, is it? You said about needing a piece of wood of the right thickness........(yeah, I caught it

I was thinking the second (I can't comprehend the first) but it would be great if i could drill a hole through the metal, and just have the bolt go right through it. Much nicer looking and simpler all around if I did that. Any reason a drill won't go through that metal?
Wait a sec. Recalculating...

You know, if I had a back bone, I would make the pay for a proper lock to be installed. They are the reason I feel a need to lock the door.
That's true, to a degree. Even if they weren't your neighbors, you should have a way to lock the door, simply for security.

Yes, you can drill a hole through that metal. You already have the drill, all you need are a couple of drill bits designed to cut into metal...metal bits, as opposed to wood bits. The metal bit will go through the metal and the wood behind it, whereas a wood bit would dull trying to go thru metal. You'll want to drill a small pilot hole so the larger bit won't "walk" off location before it gets a bite in the metal

I just took a few pics of the setup on my storm door. Give me a chance to upload them and you'll understand the door pull.

Okay.
Unc was a welder and very handy man. I know I have glass drilling bits, but only because they are still in their package. How do I know which ones are the metal bits?
