Toddlers are Quackers

Until I stocked up on liquer ( which is sadly almost gone) I had not had soda in the house for the past seven or eight years. Even now, it stays out of the fridge, and only used as a mixer.
Duckling is having enough trouble with being chubby. It's fine as a baby, but I really want her to be healthy.
I am trying to kindly say that I do not want her to be fat. I am sure someone here has overweight children, but that is not what I want for her. I am an obese woman, but I certainly wasn't that way as a child. I see pictures of my husband and his family when they were little. At five, my husband was eating two pork chop sandwiches for lunch. He was so round! It makes me sad to see the damage that has done.

Hahaha! The gal from work, she is so classical from Massachusetts. She's rough, no nonsense, in your face, but not really rude. A bit loud. She's great! And my drinking buddy is a transplant from New Jersey. I think he may be termed a Guido? He's half Italian and half Cuban, and he can totally pull of the " ey, I'm a walk-in ere! " Thing. He's a fun guy! Oh, we have kid friendly pubs here. I did not realize that it wasn't common in other areas, but Montana has always been a little weird about beer. Billings Montana is one of the top microbrewery towns in America. Even my dad brews in the basement.

We call it soda but soda pop is common

And " damage " all over! :lau
agreed!!!

Coke was like soda. We said what we wanted.

My great-aunt had the "clear soda is water" mentality. Then again, so do my in-laws.
I remember when I was little, my mother would let us have a teaspoon of her coffee. She drinks it with cream and sweetener. Duckling's Nanna did that, and she got in trouble. It's okay to give her soda though! :gig
The pediatrician said no candy. Her father said, "It's a kid's right to have candy!" This was right after she turned one. :th

Ugh

None of my kids drink soda, not even the "kid flavored" kind. Not because I wont let them, but because the carbonation burns their mouth. I'm totally ok with that. :yiipchick
the first soda I let mine try was seltzer lol

I only buy 7up, only when there are tummy aches. Other than that, it's water and milk, with occasional smoothie from fresh fruits. My husband, on the other hand, takes them out for breakfast and lunch regularly, which drives me nuts. Now, they refuse peanut butter sandwiches, even grilled cheese with tomato soup! He's made monsters out of them, the spoiled bums! I guess since I'm the one working and he's the homemaker, I don't really have much say. I still do all the grocery shopping though, so it's real fruits and vegetables for snacking.

I want to be one of your children. I spend so much on the other groceries, I never remember to buy vegetables for me to snack on. Though that is a habit I picked up because of my husband. His rule was that if he did not eat it, I could not have it. Apples, pears and mustard are examples. Even chicken breast was only allowed if I was using it in enchiladas.
