The wild duck feeding thing bugs me too sometimes. At work there are several mallard hens who nest on the hospital grounds. Whenever the nurses find them, they inevitably do something foolish like pile huge amounts of white bread and whatever junk food they think the duck will like in front of her. Once I found bird seed, like black thistle seeds! Mixed with untracked corn. And a whole half gallon of water leaking next to her nest someone set there. And they had piled leaves all around her, like a big sign saying DUCK NEST! EAT DUCK HERE! With all these well wishers, she still managed to hatch a full brood. Being just a peon in the working world, I am never sure if I should say something to the people with the fancy degrees or just leave it be, but you would think that white bread isn't good for people it would be terrible for ducks, buy whatever, right?
