Isn't that better than 9' yellow birds? I mean, look what happened to our Bubbles....Okay, so Brainy Baby is on a Christian PBS type channel. I have a problem with words like "choo choo train". If a child can say that, they can say train. "Choo choo" is the noise they make before they can say train. "Doggie" OMG! I hate that word! I was about to be sick recently listening to a really good looking guy standing in my kitchen saying it.Again, they use it in the show. I also don't understand how the show is for as young as nine months.![]()
Here is where I am going to sound like a big(ger) jerk. Kids should not be watching television before 2 years. Not even your shows. There are all kinds of studies, but the bottom line is that I think it is wrong, and harmful.
Duckling was sick, and I needed her to stop crying. I had been recording the shows for future use. I turned the first one on, and she was silent. At first, she stayed in my arms. Then she moved to the floor. It was so nice not having an inconsolable snot ball clinging to me! Unfortunately, I created a monster. We watch a LOT of "Brainy Baby" now.
So, the point. Lately, they have been interrupting our colors, numbers and animals to teach about the healing power of laying of hands, snakes, and speaking in tongues. How to be a good wife is common too. Guys, I don't want to confuse Duckling with these things. These things confuse adults! Not to mention, not every Christian has the same beliefs. Some don't believe in dancing of any sort. Another thing that the show includes (I am all for dancing. Promise!). They even show off the dancers' bodies. Men in leotards and women in skimpy costumes. THAT I have an issue with too. On a stage, a man's package is not noticed. On television, Duckling wants to know what it is. Again and again and again...
Another issue I have is the one woman they use. She is about 45 or so, and talks like a valley girl from the 80's. She makes me sick with her whiny voice, flipping her hair, and the attitude! Oh my gosh! A teen would get smacked or their mouth washed out with soap for using that attitude! One clip shows her just speaking. I still can't stand her (LOL) but she was not doing the attitude.
Okay, point made. The show is great when they are teaching colors and numbers. They are too adult and ... IDK. I think they are way off with their approach to teaching babies and toddlers about God.
ExactlyDo they still show Sesame street or something like it? I was so glad I had a child, because I got to watch the show. My son said his first words because of them. He was watching the two headed dragon pronounce "PUP PIES." He later turned to me and kept saying "pup pees," I thought "WHAT?
Then I repeated it a few times and it hit me "puppies." Yay. I love dogs, and raised dogs and had lots of puppies - before my son was born.
He also loved the show with "Wisbone." the talking dog, and "Reading Rainbow". Oh and "Thomas the Tank Engine." I'm sure some of these are on video or on endless re-runs on some station.
I would stop watching that show with your daughter - it has too many red flags to continue.

I'm joking, of course, but isn't Sesame Street still available in syndication? I bet it is, somewhere. Best thing that ever happened to my two.
I know Sesame Street is on once a day, and I have seen "Curious George"I like him. She doesn't.
Sesame Street has been mostly miss with occasional hits. Reading Rainbow I have not seen in so many years!
You are right, I really should stop putting up with a show that I feel is not a good fit. I can put up with the baby names for things, but some things are just not "okay".
Of course, we could always go back to playing outside. There are certainly enough colors and numbers out there!
