Toddlers are Quackers

No, it rarely happens if they hatch them...but it can happen.
She rejected ones we tried to graft to her, she evidently will be the unusual hen who needs to hear and feel the chicks hatching to transition from setting mode to hatching and mothering mode. We will see how she does on this fresh batch.
birds are interesting creatures this is my first flock, and I have a sitting big mama in my laundry room, she wont eat day old food I have to top it off every morning and I offered her apple peels and she wouldn't have any of it

Try the apple cut into very small bits. Broodies like quick and easy, they tend to be 'speed eaters' so she may not want to bother with the regular peels. Our broodies seem to like tuna, cooked fish, rinsed canned corn, raisins, oatmeal with brown sugar, hulled sunflower seeds, peanuts, watermelon or cantalope.
Sometimes they just don't want to eat in front of a person but any dish I leave for our broodies is empty the next time I check.

Whoever thought that buying a cookie jar would be so difficult? Not a novelty jar. Not a plastic container. A jar like the stereotypical grandmother had on her counter. I have seen a few, but none I am sure about. I want it to be right. I feel that too many things are replaceable. I don't even like using paper plates. When I do, I prefer to burn them so they are at least not just being tossed into a landfill.

I had a long night. The dog seemed to need to sleep with me. He was being clingy, and acting like he was waiting for me to put him in the bed. Maybe he was. But he jumped down within about twenty minutes. I have a thick comforter on the floor for him. He has been in love with it. So were the other dogs to be honest. It got them to stop sleeping in the bed. Funny. The thing (there were actually two. I can't remember where the other one is) is from Ames Dept Store 1999. Pretty old for a cheap blanket.
Anyway, I had a long night, and finally woke the last time a few minutes after seven. As much as I hate not having Duckling here, I have gotten some stuff done, and I got to lay in bed for a while. I finally got up because the aroma of the coffee hit my nostrils! LOL! I got a cup, and went down to the coop. I put the mug down to feed and water, and then I realized that it was going to rain, and it looked like very soon. So I got a shovel, and started getting muck from in front of the coop. After cleaning the coop yesterday, the old stuff was a deep pile of sludge and the new stuff that fell from the door and wheelbarrow was making it worse. It was getting into the clean coop, and causing me to slide around. Then, as I was almost done, the extra roo tried to get into the storage area. Kelly is trying to fly (it is kinda scary!) and the parents are keeping an eye out. Occasionally going in to encourage her (I assume). One of the doves actually went after him! :gig But a pullet did get into the room, and made a mess as she tried to get away from me, and into the box I had moved after getting the eggs out yesterday. So I had to deal with that too. I did decide to put the box into the coop for them. There are enough girls that like it. Funny how they like or don't like a box for a while, then it is suddenly everyone's favorite. They used to use the boxes evenly. Now, they rarely use the one.

But what about the coffee?

oh I can not do black my hubby does black, my oldest tried it once lol yeah not gonna happen

I learned to drink it black when I was raising a baby (nephew) and working about 100 hours a week. The convenience stores were always running out of cream or sweetener. All seven kids learned to drink it like my mother. I'm the only one to drink it black like my father.
Coffee tastes burnt to me unless I dilute it with lots of cream. Mostly cream. A little coffee.
Sounds like old coffee.

Oh...in the midst of broody watching and shuffling we butchered 11 extra roosters...will be canning later this evening.

I was just thinking of you. I almost broke my ankle trying to catch the turkey. Stupid dust baths!
Why is it that you and Chaos make me feel so lazy? I am, but geeez!

Has she done a load yet?

Now I'm hungry!

But what about the coffee?

I kept an eye on it! :lau I chased anyone that went near it!

I asked the pro, my mother of seven, how to accept not nursing anymore. She said that with the youngest, they both just forgot about it one day. She nursed less and less. He was eating breakfast before nursing, and one day he didn't ask (cry) and she didn't remember. She expressed when she had to until she was dry.
Keeping up with church and kids kept her from missing it.
