I planned this run project around the fact that I would have almost a week to do it. I wish I had ordered the stuff a day sooner, but I didn't. So, I began tearing apart the run, and had to stop because it just wasn't safe. I called the landscaper, and he said he would be by soon. I had to go get more work done so he could get the truck down to the coop, and have a place to spill his load. Turns out it was the guy I got sand from a few years ago. He is nice and he is cheap. The sand was soaked and never dried. The limestone is a bit damp too. Of course, I am still fixated on his adult daughter. She finished her McDonald's iced tea and tossed the cup into the bed of the truck as she walked by. On my stuff. The anger is more because she would dare to not just litter, but toss it on my PAID FOR product.![]()
SO he dumps, and we talk for a minute. He makes me think about the driveway. It needs another ton of gravel. We walk over, and I pay him for that load too. He returns with the stuff, and did his best (even using his feet) to smooth the gravel out for me so I wouldn't be bothered.![]()
I shower, and my in-laws call. They are at the county fair, and will bring Duckling by 9:30 until Monday. I am willing to make this work. I may not be her "mother" but I can be a mom, and work around her sleep. I also wasn't kidding earlier about the short rake. I will see if I can get her to rake with me. Even if it is just raking the dirt (I think more than half done with that. I forget).
While waiting, I look out the window, and see the flock. It is like they were mesmerized as the discovered the open spaces, and the turned up dirt. Not to mention the limestone pile and what is already spread in the rear of the run. It was comical.
Duckling gets here, and I am told that she was just changed, but is soaked through again. She slept the whole way here (30 minutes). I bring her out to close up the coop. We chase the ducks in, and I put a cinder block in front of the pop door for peace of mind. I then shut and locked the run door. I knew it was silly with the wire missing all over, but I just had to do it.
I then asked Duckling if she wanted to walk through walls, and showed her that there was no fencing in spots.
She is out like a light now. Poor little diaper rashed bum and all.
BTW, I ordered 100' of 3' fencing for a run that is 26X6 and needs the roof done too.I am so smart.
