I have never ... Okay, I have only ever seen electric used around horses when they were sharing space with cattle.

Most use electric around here because of the frost lifting posts, electric is easier to repair and move and WAY less costly

I want to get a cow eventually

Some day, I will have pastureland. For fencing, I want wooden poles with electrobraid.... I think it looks better than electric wire, and will keep naughty horses in better than wood. I have seen just plain wood used for gentle horses, but I have also seen a 4x4 snapped in half cause a draft horse had an itchy butt.

Only the corral is wood, the rest is electric, there is electric on the inside of the near fence but only to get the electricity to the rest of the field, it is rarely on. I honestly don't think I need a fence at all

I got mine for free by the side of the road. Ducks loved it.

I will eventually set mine up the way I wanted to, but this late in the year, it is pointless. Besides, I may not be around next spring.
