, i thought it was canning stuff, thats it, then i looked for a canning starter kit (cause not everyone cans) and they were SUPER expensive

yep
The necessary supplies for canning can be bought at walmart for fairly cheap.

i dont know anyone that does, so it has never been in my life

It can seem rather intimidating to start, and not being exposed to it directly through a friend or relative makes it even more so...we preserve some things through canning for practicality, and to reduce depending on freezer space, but it doesn't fit everyone's lifestyle.
If there are particular fuits or veggies you have access to at only certain times of the year then that can be a good place to start, even better if you can find an experienced canner in your area who is willing to show you the basics. If you belong to a church or a rural farming co-op you can probably find a few folks who can help you explore the possibilities without having to make a large investment in supplies.

You know MC and she cans.
but she doesnt live here to show me

i agree, umm i have access only to what the stores sell, and i am a member of nothing but my office
the only thing i could can would be poop, chicken or horse

though my ducks did plant me a very nice looking tomato plant, it is even starting to get some fruit on it, but i am sure either the frost or my chickens will get to them before i do
