Not really scares. I thought that they would at least go like halfway down the ramp before jumping. Apparently they aren't bothered by it because they keep doing it.

Also last night for the first time the moms stood in the pop door and tried to call the kids up for bedtime (they just sat there and cried) instead of just sitting on them out in the run.

So I finally figured out how Jekyll and Hyde are getting out of the coop in the morning with there mom. They will stand at the pop door, which is about 20-24" off the ground.........and jump

They will figure it out...if they seem to have trouble you could always try what Radioman did. He took a piece of 1"×1" rail and stapled a 6" wide piece of heavy fence wire the length of it. The wire spacing was close enough the chicks could run up it easier. We have also used old wire fridge and freezer shelves as ramps if you only need a short one.

All the big birds would eat the treats before the youngsters could figure out what they were.

I've thought about doing something like this with hardware cloth. Jekyll and Hyde are ducklings though and Sue is the only chick. I wonder how steep I could make a ramp and they could still use it.

It's a little involved, but hasn't failed me yet. PERFECT yolks every time.

Cover eggs in water by about an inch. Shake in an unhealthy amount of salt and two pinches of baking soda. Bring to a boil. Boil ONE MINUTE ONLY. Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 15 minutes. Drain water and dump eggs into a ice bath. Wait a couple minutes, then peel away! I use the jar method for peeling.

Lotta steps, but it never ever goes wrong and the folks don't turn weird and green.

seriously? interesting I will try that next so far I have tried steaming and salting and then I forgot I had them on and almost had egg on the ceiling
