Toenail bleeding! PLEASE HELP!

I came back from a walk and went into the coop, My chicken's toenail was bleeding, the nail seemed to just be a tiny stub covered in blood. Did it come off? We put it in water then dipped it in ash to stop the bleeding but it's still bleeding. I am scared in case it bleeds too much or the other chicken pecks at it and hurts her even more... Please help...

It is common for a toenail to become torn off. Do you have any pictures? Flour, cornstarch, styptic pencils, or blood stop powder for animals can help stop the bleeding.

She will not bleed out from a lost toenail, and it's very unlikely that the other chicken will cause her harm. Apply a styptic pencil, silver nitrate, or if none of that is available corn starch to the toe.
