Hi there, one of our little birds was standing on one foot today, and upon further inspection, we found that one of her toenails had broken off mid-length, and a little bit of her quick is poking out. Its about 1/8 of an inch of quick, or less. Just a little pink/red pointy thing. She seems fine otherwise. What is the proper cure for this? I don't think we want to cut the quick because I would think that would make things worse. Should we just leave it alone, or...? Thanks...

Do NOT cut the quick, that will bleed. If it isn't bleeding, that's good.
If it starts bleeding, you can use cornstarch to stop the bleeding.
It will be very sensitive, so avoid touching it. You may want to wash her foot gently, because you don't want any infection.
Chickens peck at wounds, so if you notice any picking you may want to cover it with blukote. Blukote is also handy to have around just in case.
What kind of coop floor do you have? You'll want to try to keep her off mud and chicken poop due to a high risk for infection.
Also, if you could post a picture it would be helpful.
