My ducklings toenails are SHARP. I have scratches everywhere. Is it okay for me to cut or file them???

Duck's toenails are always super sharp while they are babies. If you wait until they are about 4-6 weeks old you can file them down a little using a pedipaws or a dremmel. A hand file seems to take too long, as their nails are really hard! I use a pedipaws on them until they get to be a bit older, a couple of months... then their toe nails don't seem to be as sharp anymore (or they file down naturally).

Thanks, I figured they would get better when they got older cause they would get thicker but right now...whew they dig into everything. It's okay though their cuteness makes up for it. Thanks for the info. I'll do it when they are a little older as you suggested.

I remember bearing with the very sharp claw stage a few weeks ago. Wow!

But now, at almost nine weeks, they don't seem to be as claw-happy, and they are outside some, so I think that wears down their nails.
