I've had this Silkie roo for a few months now but just curious if he is actually a Silkie as that is what I was told. Could he be a mix or do Silkie roos have long tails like his normally? They sort of look like they have a green shine in the sun it's quite pretty. He has produced a few little chicks that look like silkies so far so I'm guessing he is a silkie. But aren't silkies suppose to be more fluffy? All my girl silkies are.

Thanks for your replies! I wanted to know since I only had Silkie hens and wanted Silkie babies, not a mix breed. He is my first rooster and I didn't get him from a breeder just from a backyard keeper giving him away. He has had some babies now and they are all fluffy like Silkies are suppose to be, and they are all different colours too which makes it easier to tell whos who :) He must give off some colour since my hen was only a plain grey and babies were all different colours. Hi, I have bred with this guy with 3 of my hens that are 1 black, 1 white and 1 brown. I have got those 3 from a silkie breeder so they are pure Silkie. But... I have some white chicks that turned out with red wattles and comb and a splash baby that had yellow legs and also some whites with normal mulberry colour wattles/comb but yellow legs too... So is this boy really a Silkie or is it some sort of gene that makes wattles go red and yellow legs that can come from my hens? Aren't pure Silkies suppose to only have black legs/skin and mulberry/dark wattles comb. All the black chicks have black legs and dark wattles/comb.
Thanks! :)
