tom or hen?

I posted a month or so ago, but people thought they were too young to tell, now that they don't look identical and are starting to look a little different I think I may have a breeding pair... but I thought I'd look to you for some advice!! I do not know their age but when I posted last month people seemed to think about 3 months... I bought them spuratically at the auction last month.

This first picture notice the difference in the tail. The one on the perch has really light feathering and a lot more color with a really healthy looking tail.


This is the one with the light colored feathering and I think this is a hen... Her gobbler is much lighter in color than the other one although it doesn't show in pictures.


I believe this is the Tom, althought I don't know the difference... This one is a lot more scraggily with a much darker coloring but not as solid.


Top view of the two. I would say Tom in the back and hen in the front if I'm right....


Tom on right... hen on left...? MAYBE?

The bottom pic is hard to tell by but the one in the second pic definitely looks like a hen and the one in the third pic has too large of a snood (the skin on its head) to be a hen. Then when you look at them together, they do look different. Fingers crossed for a pair

but it looks like it to me! Beautiful color, by the way!

well it's funny, because i literally bought them from the auction to save them from dinner... and threw them in with my chickens, but they looked IDENTICAL and were sold to me as both hens, but with time one has become MUCH prettier and more "well kept" looking than the other. But they're inseparable, and even though they want nothing to do with me... I REALLY LOVE THEM!!!

They appear to be Bourbon Red Turkeys I don't remember as many white patches on my Bourbons growing up.
They could be straight Bourbon Reds or a little mix thrown in.
All my Hens were lighter colored than my Toms so you may have one of each buy the size of the water bowel you have I think that its a oil drain pan they maybe about 10 weeks old or there abouts.

I am far from an expert just using what knowledge that I have from my first year at Turkeys.
As they grow you will notice the darker one gain faster than the lighter one and the feet will be bigger on the darker one.
If that is a Tom the snood will be bigger the head of the Turkey will be brighter colored blue and red and at the base of its neck you will see Caruncles look like over size wort's more so on the darker colored one than the lighter one see Caruncles below on the picture.
You may see other things that set it apart from the lighter one if this is a Tom.
Its a learning experience for me I know.

Second and Third are different hens so you could be right!! the water bucket is a feed thing for horses... cleaned everyday but NEVER clean!! Probable 1 foot to 1.5 diameter.

I have 2 very simular looking birds, was not sure of their gender until yesterday. Mine are 31/2 months old, also have 4 other ones that are 3 months old, pencilled palms. They started gobbling yesterday, should say 4 out of the 6 gobble, the other 2 chrip and trill. The grown tom was gobbling and the grown hens were chirping/trilling, I am not sure what all their turkey conversation was about, was funny to watch and hear though. Looks like a hen and tom that you have.

Your 2do somewhat look like a pair you may be lucky

. My Tom just gobbled this morn for the first time he did it twice I was so excited he is 13 weeks.
