tom or hen?

so, one is still bigger and bolder looking and looks like it may start getting gobblers... BUT.... they still don't make the noise a tom should make... could I have two hens?!?!

Pekin is right, you have a pair. The tom is on the right with the dark red feathering and the hen on the left with th light feather edging. NIce!

I take back my last guess from aug and change it to 2 hens. My BR toms are 3 1/2 months old and have very obvious tom features long snoods red/blue face and they all gobble and one is even starting to grow his beard. Your 2 look like my hens.

When this young looking at pictures can be hard to tell, but you'll notice a big difference in the legs. Hens tend to have shorter smaller diameter legs, while Toms have longer + thicker legs.

I will have to look closer and maybe take more pictures in the morning!! Sometimes they play and jump around together, almost like they're trying to fight but never actually get aggressive.. They're definitely inseparable, but I have had them now for well over 3 months, and there just doesn't seem to be an distinguishable differences between the two aside from color and one being slightly larger, but being that I don't know how old they are or if they're the same age it's hard to tell!

Yep, snood growth can be really variable but once adult feathering starts to come in the breast feather coloration never lies.

My tom and 3 hens were born very early June. My tom just started strutting now. He gobbled twice that I've heard him, and usually only when frightened. His snood is very long and never is as small as the girls.

yeah, i really have no clue!! I guess only time will tell... The one I would say is a tom is the one you all have guessed, the darker one... he behaves differently, such as he puffs up from time to time and kinda hops around like hes on the prowl or something... but I have yet to hear him make the noise a tom should make... for now they both make the noise a girl makes.
