Tomato eater....

I think most of our bites were on the sides...that I remember. Deer would be a very good guess. But geez, you'd think they'd eat the whole thing...like an apple!

I sprayed dish soap mixed with water kills them and they havent been back since i sprayed with it.I use it to kill my squash bugs to,cheap and dont have to worry about poisions.

Maybe I'll try that. Bites are small, low, and on the sides. Rabbit probably, seems about the right size bite. Or maybe a skunk. Doesn't seem right for a possum or coon.

Do not let chickens near your tomatoes! Mine have just discovered the garden and are devouring all my tomatoes. I cant velieve they even.have time to debug theyre so busy stuffing their beaks =S

Yeah, I'm beginning to think maybe they are the culprits after all. Sneaky little buggers...but they're only eating the red ones and that sounds like something that can see color....hmmmm.

I dont know if chickens can see color or not but it does make me curious. They never touched the tomatoes until I had one go ripe. I went out to pick it nd it was gone, and I see dirty filthy chickens everywhere with green tomato all over the place. Maybe they notice the smell or something of the ripe ones, because now that all the tomatoes are ripening theyve stopped eating the green ones. They are such stinkers!!!

Those little squirrels are taking my tomatoes again this year. They come early in the morning and just before dusk. I can't let a tomato ripen on the vine. The first hint of blush, and they are off with it. If its too big, they eat it there. I've declared war on them. Hubby is enjoying the war as he gets to play with his toys.

Crows or some other bird eat our tomatoes.

You could have ground hog ( we have one that lives on the back half of my neighbors property.) Mice, insects, birds, deer?...etc.

The last year I grew tomatoes just fine without any insect problem or bird problem, this year I have successfully picked two to three ripe, hole free tomatoes out of about 12 plants.

have you checked for tomato worms? they're creepy worms the same color as the plant and are almost invisible. Look for their droppings in the leaves.
