I had a tomato on my plant that had a soft spot, so I threw it to my chickens. They did their usual fighting over it, but then the one that usually gets pushed out wriggled under the others, grabbed it and ran. She took off and the others chased her. She got herself into a corner, facing the corner, then sat on the tomato! It was hilarious! Then she would sneak little bites of it, with her bottom blocking the others.

There nothing more fun than watching them chase each other for food. Too bad you did not get a picture of her on the tomato. I have learned to always have my phone with me when out with the girls because of things like this. Thanks for sharing.

My chickens LOVE tomatoes! They usually get cherry tomatoes that are starting to shrivel a bit. There's plenty to go around, but they still chase each other.

I know! I am going to have to start bringing it out with me all the time. I wasn't expecting it.

We have a small garden just for a couple of tomato plants etc. Because of all the "fertilizer" the girls generate the garden grows like mad. We had to fence it in to keep the girls out but any tomatoes that make it over or through are free game for the girls. They are great leapers and can knock tomatoes off the vine 4 feet in the air.
