Tonight is FFA banquet, kinda sad

It will be sad, but those sad moments mean you have some of the best memories from that organization. I'm a co-advisor for our FFA chapter here in Kodiak. We're only two years old and we had our first banquet last night. It wasn't really formal, but it was good to see the kids so proud of their accomplishments.

I was in FFA for four years of high school and four years of college. I even went to the National Convetion (when it was still in KC) as a chaperone for the Montana High School delgation. My big thing was the soils contests and it totally shaped what I studied in college and the career I have now.

Enjoy every minute tonight, even the sad ones, you'll remember it forever.

I was in FFA for 3 years and I loved it! I was the Chaplain in my senior year. I remember going to KC for the Convention, the last year it was there I believe and we got to see Colin Raye in concert, it was so cool and fun!

I tried my kids in 4H last year thinking it would be like FFA, but it wasn't. I can't wait until they are old enough to join, its a great organization to be involved in.

I still remember the things I learned doing milk tasting and dairy judging. Our dairy judging team almost made it to the finals!

Enjoy your memories!

It is bittersweet. I was in 4-H for 8 years and was President....I remember that 'retirement' evening to this day and that was over 25 years ago.

I wrote up a big reply last night and the puter froze. Banquet was ok, we scratched the big introduction. The person that introduced me was a great friend, she made me laugh so hard, it brought back many memories from middle school. After my retiring speech there was more applause that there was for any one else, someone cheered. After the speech the girls all hugged me, my friend cried, then with the slide show a couple more people cried. We had tri-tip and chicken bbq for dinner. Right as the banquet started there was so much rain, it was pouring down. I also got to meet the new shop teacher who will also be a second advisor. His aunt was our previous advisor and he is coming from a 'bad' school so he should have it easy.
The bad parts were when the little kids screamed, and when they ruined the arrangements, and a kid got officer that I didnt agree with. The kid was in FFA a few years back and when he was he didnt do anything, he never had an SAE, never did any CDE's, never helped with fundraisers or anything. Then all of a sudden he wants to be an officer and the advisor let him run, then he got reporter! I didnt agree with it but there is nothing I can do about it, at least we got a good president, VP, secretary, and treasuerer, the basics.
