Too big for a roost?

It’s about 3 inches wide. Is this too big for my bantams’ delicate little paws?
The stock roost that came with the coop was about 1 inch wide.

3 inches is fine. Technically, you can't go too wide. It may sag, though, as it appears to only be 1/2" - 3/4" thick.

My bantams roost fine with my big girls - they all have a 4" roost.

It is not too wide but it is too thin. Find a piece of 2x4 instead.
The chickens typically sit with their feet flat on their roosts.

We used 2x4s for our roosts, and I've got bantams as well. They do fine. Your board is wide enough, but as others have said, it might not be thick enough to not sag.

Wide is good. They can sit on their feet to keep them warm.

I added outdoor roosts to our (Nestera) coop area, using 1x4's. They're only four feet long and well supported, but the ends (beyond the supports) sag when the girls hop on.

2x4's are the way to go. Depending on the lumber, you may want to chamfer (soften the sharp edges) of the wood to avoid splinters.
