Too cold for ducks?

I wonder if they just weren't acclimated...kind of a shock factor, because I know most don't mind the cold. I only have a kiddie pool and they used it year round, even when I knocked ice apart so they could use if wanted. I know one time they went in and got right back out and didn't use it for quite some time for bathing one of the days I knocked the ice out. But next year if they continue using the creek daily as it got colder in the fall into winter, maybe the cold won't bother your one like it did.

Only time mine don't go in pond is if it is very windy, they don't like the high winds with cold temps other than that they are in their all day long with short trips to eat and free range around.

I just move the aerator to the shallow in winter as to not mess with the heat thermals and kill the fish. If it wasn't for the ducks, I wouldn't use it in winter months but it's so much easier than worrying about water for them in winter here in Ohio and they love it.
