Too cold for ducks?

How would the water in the pool be warmer than the creek unless you fill them with warm water?

I don’t know! The creek water is running, and there’s no sun on the creek, so that could affect it I believe

I wonder if they just weren't acclimated...kind of a shock factor, because I know most don't mind the cold. I only have a kiddie pool and they used it year round, even when I knocked ice apart so they could use if wanted. I know one time they went in and got right back out and didn't use it for quite some time for bathing one of the days I knocked the ice out. But next year if they continue using the creek daily as it got colder in the fall into winter, maybe the cold won't bother your one like it did.

My ducks never say to cold they swim all day all winter long a few pics of them enjoying pond. Sitting on ice when not swimming, I have an aerator to keep an unfrozen spot for them they love it. Only time mine don't go in pond is if it is very windy, they don't like the high winds with cold temps other than that they are in their all day long with short trips to eat and free range around.

Thanks just try to keep everything in balance and keep it aerated.

I just move the aerator to the shallow in winter as to not mess with the heat thermals and kill the fish. If it wasn't for the ducks, I wouldn't use it in winter months but it's so much easier than worrying about water for them in winter here in Ohio and they love it.
