Hi there! I currently have five 5 week old chicks, 2 buff orpingtons and 3 cochins. The buffs are fully feathered now and the cochins are almost there. I live in FL and normally would be moving them out of the house and to the coop right about now. However, our weather has been weird lately and we have not had very warm days (for FL). Lately the highs have been high 60's and at night it's been getting into the 40's and 50's. I'm afraid it's still too cold for them, at least at night, but wanted advise. I love them to death, but I'm ready for them to be outside!

It's NOT too cold for 5 week olds! And in Florida????? I moved my current batch out at 5 weeks (2 weeks ago) and we had lows in the 30's and 40's all that first week, I did not give them a heat source. They did fine. They have down underwear, lol.

Toss the birdy's out fully feathered birds do not heat ... are you with a coop and run for them ?

Hahaha! Thanks everyone. I guess I spoil them a bit lol

I do have a coop and run for them that will keep them separated from my grown girls until they get bigger.

This will make my fiancé very happy :lau

Get them out before you start to resent everything about having them...been there!
Right, I am never raising chickens in the house again!!!!!!!!! EVER. I know I said this last year, but this year I really mean it.
