Hi Everyone:

One of the Australorps sat long enough for 3 chicks to hatch. They are about 2 1/2 weeks old. I have them in a room in the coop. I'm considering letting them out of the room with mom, but wondered your thoughts on their ability to get up and down the ladder? It may be that mom won't even take them outside yet. What do you think?

Nice coop!! :D My worry would be the height at the top and f the ladde or walkway- if a chick fell from that high up maybe it could be injured? Like you said, mama hen might not even take them out yet, so it may be okay. I would wait one more week for more feather development. That way, worst case scenario, they could coast down with the little flying skills they will have learned by then.
