Cuckoo Marans. They are 4 weeks old today. Do you think I have one pullet and one cockerel? The Right One in the photo has a slightly bigger comb and has a tint more red to it. Is it too soon to tell?

I really want two pullets but I’m starting to think I got a cockerel mixed in.

Our Australorp rooster had a comb like this at about this age, however this is a different breed so it may not be cockerel.

I think you have a pullet and cockerel. When you see that one has a significantly bigger comb than the other of the same breed that is usually a giveaway though sometimes that is not the case

I would say you are correct. One of each.
Thank you! I’m going to keep them as a breeding pair then haha - silver lining I guess. They should have sex linked chicks from what I’m learning.

Update: they are now almost 6 weeks old and I see a big difference in their feather pattern and comb development. The male has a striped/barred pattern and the female is more blotchy/black with white patches. The male’s comb is still bigger and staying more red than the female.
