Too hot to incubate mailed eggs?

I’ve had one VERY successful hatch of Buff Orpingtons (early May) and one utter disaster (late May).

I’m in California and the hatching eggs would be sent from California but it’s getting hot and dry. Wondering if I should wait for another cooler period? I’m concerned that even a days journey in the heat would be risky to the eggs.

I can’t find Buff Orpington chicks in California so resorted to buying an incubator and doing myself. I don’t want to order baby chicks from cross country this time of year.

Advice from experiences folks appreciated!

Thanks!

If you decide to buy them now, I'd put them straight into the incubator without turning them for at least a day, upright.

So, don’t let them sit for 24 hours to get to room temp like I’ve done with last two batches?

My second hatch was a disaster not because of California heat but because my temps went (unnoticed) 6-7 degrees low for almost a week. I felt awful as at day 14 they were really good looking embryos 😩
