It’s over 38 degrees Celsius here and my flock has shade but the heat is unbearable. Other than consistent water supply and shade, is there any better way to keep them cool that they might enjoy??

I have a shallow old cooler lid that I fill with fresh water and I've seen mine stand in it and sit in it. They seem to enjoy it. Sometimes I put a block of ice in it to slowly melt. Also cold seedless grapes or frozen berries as small treats make them happy.

We have 3 fans, a mister and I put large cubes of ice into their water dishes (there are three) throughout the day. I also spray water on the muddy, shady spots where they tend to lay down / try to dust bath to cool down the earth. Finally, lots of cold watermelon and cherries. ;)

All previous replies are great ideas. It's very hot here 105F and I hose down the ground in a couple of places twice a day and the chickens will lay in it. I also make sure they have plenty of cool water and water pots they can wade in. Cooling the feet helps them a lot. I have fans in their coops as well. I don't do the ice thing as I have no space in my freezer, but ice in their water helps too! Good Luck!
