I have the sweetest roo you will ever see, comes when called and is never mean to myself or the hens... Likes to be hand fed/petted. Issue is, he is so large when he mounts them it causes their back feathers to come out. He is a Light Brahma... Any solutions? They don't seem to notice/care but I don't like the bald patches. Only seems to happen on his "favorites" I assume it is because he over mates them.
1 Roo : 40 hens is the ratio

I had a few buff and dark Brahmas in my flock, 2 of whom were roosters. They didn’t seem to be too big for my 4 and 5 pound hens. It was hilarious when my little banty 1 pound OEG hen would squat for one of them. There was no contact but each went on their own way as if they had mated. Many times when a cockerel or rooster is young, he will overmate the hens, especially the willing ones. After they all molted, it seemed my original rooster calmed down a lot. Some people will pen up the young rooster for awhile until he matures and calms down. If you have 2, you can alternate them in and out of the flock, but not put them together. Most will fight and hurt each other.

That is just the thing with rooster - his favourites. 1:40 is an excellent ratio. Might be house his favourites somewhere for a little while.
I have the "favourites" situation in my flock, I took her away to another area for a week, but she escaped to be near him. This hen is at the bottom of the pecking order, so I am guessing that she is seeking his protection. I am thinking of let her free range with another hen that least pick on her and see how it works out.
