If you are like me and have a lot of oak trees in your yard, you have plenty of acorns. We have a line of oaks in the middle of the yard close to the coop that drop a ton of acorns each year. They have been a pain trying to walk on them until this year. I happen to notice today that there we have very few acorns on the ground and I found out why. My Rouen and Swedish ducks are eating them.

I then looked it up and found that dubbing duck love acorns and they are a good source of carbohydrates. I had wondered why they looked so fat. I guess that is why they have been digging it the leaves.

it is a bog year for acorns (we didn't get any last year)! I actually fell and broke my hand and thumb! I got my cast off 2 weeks ago!

My ducks enjoy picking them up and moving them around their mouths, but have yet to eat them yet!
