Too Many Roos?

You are right, they are all cockerels. I know how you feel. We lost 2 silkie hens last year, so we got 8 silkie chicks at a show this past January hoping to get a couple of pullets to replace them. No such luck as ALL 8 were males.

That's what I figured... even though I didn't want to admit it. :( Wow, Keesmom... all 8 ending up as cockerels?!? Darn silkies, anyway! They are my favorites and I've wanted them for such a long time. I thought I'd get at least ONE pullet! I figure I will keep one roo... the black one is such a nice guy and his crow is very quiet and he rarely does it. If it was just a noise issue, I'd be willing to work around it but I don't want any blood-shed over the few girls (orpington, polish, and 2 faverolles) that I have. Maybe I'll wait for them to ALL start crowing and see who is the most quiet and docile of the bunch before I take them back to the farm I got them from.

You could build a bachelor pad for the males if you want. Then pick the mellowest of the bunch,

The kids have the silkies , I have LF Faverolles. Hope you enjoy yours!
