I have 3 roosters and 9 hens. The weather, as everywhere, here in Texas has been unusually cold. I've been giving them free range over the enclosed pasture. Sometimes they roam, sometimes they stay in the main coop. My question is with egg production way down, and the activity of the roosters way up.... Would it be better for egg production to run the roosters out of the pen first thing in the morning and leave the girls to take care of business? I've noticed that since 2 of my youngest roosters have been giving the hens so much activity, the girls want to stay away from them. They go so far as to run far away from the young guys.
I thought maybe a lil rest from the boys would be welcomed. Please could someone with more experience than I give me a clue?

Yes, it would be better for egg production in the long run if you didn't have too many roos to too few hens. Minus two roos and they should be fine. Overmating = stress on the hens. Stress = lower egg production.
