Too many to choose from, too little to have.

Pick one or a few that would be best please!

Look into New Hampshire, Plymouth Rocks and Bielefelder, all prolific dual purpose breeds that put on sufficient meat as well.

Curious, friendly and robust breeds and suitable for beginners.

I need help deciding which chickens to get in the near future for a small flock I want to have (later a large flock). Here’s some chicken breeds I was thinking about most, which is optimal for the best flock
First off... figure 4 square feet for one bird (typical) That MAY change the size of your coop.

I did not have that experience with my Reds.... but I handled them since they were chicks.
I also lost both of them them to acetes 2 weeks apart.

I have lost faith in the chicks from the farm stores. My next purchase will be through Murray McMurray... mail order.

I did that back in 2002, and those were excellent birds.

Unfortunately I gave them away when the ex left.

Freeze warning tonight. The coop front is tarped and a heater is on... just enough to take off the chill.

The birds I still have, have survived 2 winters of -50 wind chills.
